  The Instructors

Mr. DiPietro

Mr. DiPietro started his martial arts training at the age of 12. His interest in karate stemmed from watching his brother’s classes and going to tournaments to watch him compete.
In 1996 Mr. DiPietro became a member of his school’s SWAT team, and started assisting in teaching classes. In 1997, when Master DiPietro started East Coast Karate Institute, Mr. DiPietro came with him, and started instructing full time.
Mr. DiPietro received his Black Belt in 1998, his Second Degree in 2000, and his Third Degree in 2003. He now has his eye set on achieving his Master’s Belt.
Mr. DiPietro really enjoys working with children and making them into stronger individuals by helping to build their confidence and self-esteem. His goal when he is teaching, is to motivate each student to do his or her best and to help them to see and to reach their fullest potential.

Mr. Westraad

Mr. Westraad started his training in the martial arts in 1993.  He came to East Coast Karate Institute in 1997 when he moved here from South Africa.  He became a member of the SWAT Team in 1999, and has always been an active member of the East Coast Karate Demo Team.
Mr. Westraad enjoys competing in tournaments and has placed in most of them.  He tested for Black Belt in April 2001,  received his 2nd Degree Black Belt in April 2003 and his 3rd Degree Black Belt in April 2006.  He is currently  pursuing his Master's Belt.
Karate has always been part of his life, and he has seen many improvements in his life due to karate.  He strives to be a good role model for other students and loves teaching as it gives him an opportunity to do for others what his instructors have done for him.

Miss D'Alonzo

Ms. D'Alonzo began her martial arts training at East Coast Karate in 1997 when she was seven years old. She joined the SWAT Team in 2001 and has been an active member of the Demo Team. In April 2002, Ms. D'Alonzo received her 1st Degree Black Belt and in April 2004, she earned her 2nd Degree. Currently, she is working towards her 3rd Degree and looks to test for it in April 2007.
In April 2006, Ms. D'Alonzo joined the teaching staff at ECKI's Edgmont Studio. By instructing other students, she hopes to pass on the knowledge and experience that she was given through her own training with ECKI's instructors. Her goal each time she teaches is to inspire her students and instill in them skills that they can use for the rest of their lives.
